Strands started as 20 tweets composed by Matthew Henderson to commemorate the highs and lows of the last 3 years. Published in December 2021, The Ocean Beneath then urged Matthew to record these tweets as a spoken word piece. From there, with contributions from Lines of Flight, Strands, which is reminiscent of Jon Hopkins and Bicep was born. Drawing on ambient, IDM and microdance production influences, the track finds the tension and release between the spoken word and electronic beats."
